Ras Al Khaima's Duty Free Art Floor

Ras Al Khaimah gateway; an example of fine Architectural ArtThe historic city of Julfar, presently called Ras Al Khaimah has emerged over the past decade into a major industrial city and an important tourist destination in UAE. The emirate's free trade policy, and benevolent leadership has made it an important investement destination and its proximity to other important cities like Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah and Umm Al Quain makes it a cheaper city to live for tourists travelling to any area in UAE.  Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah has initiated a host of infrastructure development activities and is encouraging foreighn Universitites to start open their branches in the city. The American University was launched a few years back and now three more universitites are in the final stage of settling down. 

This year Ras Al Khaimah is gearing up for a host of international events directly under the aegis of the Emir. Sprawling Hilton Ras Al Khaimah : hosting the city's first duty free art floorFirstly the city is all set to host the 33rd American Cup in February 2010, followed by the "Richest Half Marathon In The World' which will witness the participation of the some of the globe's best runners. The prize money will be US$180 000, the higest for any marathon event in the world. 

Ras Al Khaimah is also emerging as a major hub for art and culture. This year in Hilton Ras Al Khaimah, Cinnamon Art House is launching UAE's first duty-free art floor catering to art lovers from accross the globe. The Inaugural show will present 6 original works and 6 limited edition prints of important Indian artist Devajyoti Ray.

Art of Devajyoti RayDevajyoti Ray, is very popular in Dubai and his last show in Dubai was attended by the curators and art lovers form accross UAE. This year Devajyoti Ray's show in Ras Al Khaimah is likely to be a significant pointer to the city's importance. The show will also be significant because of the huge Indian population that already inhabits the city. The show will be attended by ministers, filmstars, sports personalities and important business executives from India.
