Abu Dhabi begins new show with Wafa Hourani ......15 Nov

Wafa Hourani

is perhaps the most well known face of Palestinian contemporary art. Combining, photographs, sculptures, and eletrical circuits Hourani creates very interactive installations which make one think of the life that common people in war torn Palestine go through. The installations look like small model cities, which are about to fall down.

Wafa Hourani has showed in London and had taken the art loving people there by storm. But Wafa Hourani has seldom showed after this major show. Now at Abu Dhabi, the Tourism Development and Investment Company of UAE in collaboration with the Sharjah Art Foundation, is presenting an exciting new exhibition in line with Hourani's thoughts and ideas. The exhibition is curiously titled : Disorientation II: The Rise and Fall of Arab Cities.

Apart from Hourani himself 15 other important artists will also be participating in this and thought-provoking exhibition. The show will be curated by Jack Persekian the distinguished Artistic Director of the Sharjah Biennial, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation.

Hourani's success in the west and the begining of a show like this in Middle East itself, that too outside Dubai is a major marker for how Middle East is turning into a major of artistic activities.
