Amidst the cloud of global recession, Art Dubai once again launches it 2010 edition in time. This years Art Dubai has more galleries, more exhibits and more themes. This is particularly important because most other fairs have been postponed, their budgets have been reduced and the attendances of galleries all over the world in any fair is quite low compared to what it was in 2009.
The success of the Dubai Art Fair is likely to encourage Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in their art endeavours. This year the format has been slightly changed. More solo shows of individual artists are being organised. And instead of the region of Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA), the fair has invited galleries from around the globe. Particular importance is given to the South American Countries. This regions have never showcased their works in Middle East. This is likely to be a major attraction.
Among the Individual artists who are drawing huge crowds is Indian artist MF Husain and Egyptian Artist Adel El Siwi. Other artists who are getting a lot of attention are Hazem El Mestikawy, Iman Issa, Mahmoud Khaled. Indian Art as ususal is one of the hot favourites but this time one should also look for Pakistani art and their galleries.
Parallel to the regular exhibition, the Global Art Forum has organised discussions, film shows and this year their effort has been supplemented by a new Art Park which is the first of its kind in any Asian Art fair.
